Dwight J. Luckett, Sr., Ed.S. Superintendent
Mr. Dwight Luckett has over 22 years of experience in education. Prior to becoming Superintendent, he served as the School Improvement Coordinator for the Canton Public School District. A year later, he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent. Prior to coming to the District, he served three years as the Principal of East Side High School in Cleveland, Mississippi. During his tenure, his innovative leadership brought the low performing school to a highly successful performing school. He also improved school safety, enhanced the learning environment, and restored community pride by focusing on academics. Mr. Luckett has received many awards from community leaders and civic organizations praising his hard work. Prior to this, Mr. Luckett served as Assistant Principal at Velma Jackson Magnet High School in Camden, Mississippi. He also served twelve years as a teacher and eight years as a varsity basketball coach. He taught World History, American Government, Mississippi Studies, Geography, Minority Studies, Sociology, and Psychology.
