Derek Starling, President
My vision of the future for the Canton Public School System is to create a culture that emphasizes lifelong learning and that motivates and challenges students to do and be their best. The Board will work diligently and collaboratively with school administrators to develop and implement systems that will accentuate continuous improvement in all aspects of education.
Leigh Michael Pace, Vice-Chairman
A successful public education system is vital to the educational and economic survival of any municipality. The Canton Public School Board is striving to create an environment conducive to learning for the children of our district. In raising the educational level of our district, it is imperative that all sectors of the community become involved with the activities of the district. Our children deserve our best effort, and in return, we will receive their highest achievement. The Canton Public School Board and staff are committed to making this happen. Support the city of
Canton by supporting our schools.

My vision for the
Canton
Public
School District is consist ent with the national public schools goal to ultimately educate each and every child to the fullest of his/her potential. I believe that the
Canton
Public
School District can and will seek to achieve this vision through its mission: "The mission of the
Canton
Public
School District is to foster a lifelong thirst for learning within each student. In order to accomplish our mission, we shall continually strive to improve our educational services and thus, meet the demands of the community for quality. We shall continue our quest to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to work effectively with students from diverse ethnic and cultural groups and to help all students develop positive attitudes and values."
We can achieve this mission through consistent school-community involvement and cooperation. We must together face the new challenges of our district, community, and society. The time of social, economic, and technological change in school districts are now upon us and indicated that our school board's responsibility is greater than ever before. to ensure input from students, administrators, parents and the community as a means to link to the entire community.
Mrs. Jimmie Goodloe, Member
As a member on the Canton Public School District Board of Trustees and a retired educator for thirty years, my efforts are geared towards helping to create a learning atmosphere that focuses on the success of all students. We must continuously strive to improve the educational process so that our students will not only excel academically, but will become well-rounded thinkers with positive attitudes and a strong sense of values. There have been great efforts put forth to bring about more parental and community involvement in the educational process. The superintendent, assistant superintendent, principals and the administrative staff have worked diligently with the school board exerting all of their expertise to help create a curriculum that will enhance the learning process of all students. Modern technology is a great part of our schools' curriculum that starts with the lower elementary students. The future of our district looks very promising especially with the institution of tutoring programs throughout the district. We have enlisted the assistance of our parents, community clergymen and business leaders to help us to accomplish our goals. With everyone working together to produce a curriculum that will enhance the learning process of students at all levels, No Child Will Be Left Behind.
Mrs. Olivia Harrell, Secretary
Many students come to school each day excited about learning. However, some of our students bring problems and concerns from home and neighborhood into the classroom hoping that school can be a bright spot in their day. We have an obligation to meet the challenges of these students and all other students.
