The Department of Exceptional Services provides educational support services to children with disabilities in the school district.  Our goal is to collaborate with all programs serving children with disabilities with the Canton schools.  Presently, the Canton Public School District, Department of Exceptional Services is providing services through 25 special education programs in our district to students who have a disability in the areas of educational, physical, mental, learning disabilities communicative, emotional, developmentally delayed, autistic, and traumatic brain injury.

 

The Department of Exceptional Services also administers the District’s gifted program.  Referrals for the gifted program will be accepted from anyone who believes that a student might be eligible for the program. There is a process and specific requirements that must be met to participate in the gifted program.  Eligible students in grades 2-8 are allowed to take part in this program.
