Mary Jones
State & Federal Programs Director
Title I Coordinator
The office of federal programs welcomes everyone back for a great 2006-2007 school year. Our staff this year consists of lead teachers, a math coach, teachers, counselors, paraprofessionals, school nurses, medical secretaries, computer technicians, a drug education partner, a parent liaison, a parent coordinator, an administrative assistant, a supervisor and a coordinator.
Our federal programs include Titles I, II, IV, and V. We would like to share with you activities each program provides for our school system. Our district operates on the basis of school wide projects because 92% of the students enrolled in the district participate in the free and reduced lunch program. Meanwhile, the parochial school participates in Titles I, II, IV and V, but the private school participates in Title V only.

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), signed by President George W. Bush on Jan. 8, 2002, reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) and incorporated most of the major reforms proposed by President Bush. This broad legislation has implications for all Mississippi schools as well as every school across the nation. The legislation has four guiding themes: Accountability and assessment-Parent involvement-Research-based programs (including high-quality educators)-Flexibility
