In an effort to increase our students’ performance, assist them in meeting state curricular objectives and increase our graduation rate, the Canton Public School District is pleased to offer the following summer programs for students:
Read Well
(July 6-July 24/M-F): This program will provide intensive remediation in reading for students in 2nd grade at McNeal Elementary School and Canton School of Arts and Sciences. Parents of students selected for this program have been notified. For more information on this program, contact your child’s principal.
21st Century Remediation
(June 2-June 25/M-Th): This enrichment and remediation program will focus on language arts/reading, mathematics, physical education, performing arts, crafts and problem solving. Students in grades 3-5 and 9-12 are eligible to participate. Parents of students selected for this program have been notified.
Nichols Middle School Remediation
(June 1-June 25/M-Th): This remediation program will target students who need additional assistance in meeting objectives in language arts and math. Parents of students who qualify for this program will be notified in the form of a letter.
Nichols Middle School Promotion
(June 1-June 25/M-Th): Students who have earned a 60-69 in language arts and/or math may enroll in this program. If students master failed objectives during the summer session, they will be promoted to the next grade. Parents of students who qualify for this program will be notified in the form of a letter.
Canton High School Remediation
(June 1-June 25/M-Th): Students who have not received a passing score on the Algebra I, Biology I, English II or U.S. History Subject Area Tests are eligible to attend this program. Parents of students who qualify for this program will be notified in the form of a letter.
Canton High School Promotion
(June 1- June 25/M-Th): Students failing a course with a score of 60-69 are eligible to attend this program. The cost of the program is as follows: one course/$200.00 and two courses/$350.00. If students master failed objectives during the summer session, they will receive the credit for the course. Parents of students who qualify for this program will be notified in the form of a letter.
