Dear Parents and Guardians:

With all the reports about Swine Flu circulating, we wanted to let you know that we will continue to be diligent in monitoring the situation.  Any changes in the district will be reported immediately on our Web page.

As of now, there are several confirmed cases of the H1N1 Virus in our district. The cases of the H1N1 Virus that have been occurring in the United States, thus far, have been mild. However, as a precautionary move, I have asked our buildings and grounds staff to do a special cleaning of our buildings beyond normal operations. We are also utilizing hand sanitizers,disinfectants,anti-bacterial soap and taking other precationary measures to help keep our students and staff safe. Administrators and staff will be observing students for flu-like or upper respiratory symptoms (fever, cough, chills and body aches), and will direct anyone exhibiting these symptoms to the school nurse. However, if you child is sick with fever or other flu-like symptoms please do not send them to school instead seek proper medical attention.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the following steps to stay healthy:

· Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.  Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
· Wash your hands with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.  Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
· Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.  Germs spread that way.
· Try to avoid close contact with sick people.

The CDC recommends that you keep your child at home if he or she exhibits symptoms of the flu in order to limit contact with others.  If you suspect your child has the flu, please be sure to notify our Central Office at 601-859-4110.

Respectfully,

Dwight J. Luckett
Superintendent
