Mr. Dwight J. Luckett, Sr.

       

Dwight J. Luckett, Sr. Biography

Mr. Luckett was born and raised in Madison County, Mississippi. 

He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Saint Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. He has also completed further studies at Mississippi State University and Jackson State University. 

Mr. Luckett served as a clinical faculty member in the Education Department’s Educational Leadership Division at Delta State University for two years. He has extensive experience in education, having worked as a classroom teacher for 12 years, eight of which were at Velma Jackson Middle and High Schools. He was a high school basketball coach for 10 years and has spent 18 years as an educational administrator. His administrative roles have included serving as a high school assistant principal, middle school principal, high school principal in Cleveland, MS, educational consultant, assistant superintendent for two years in Canton, MS, superintendent of schools for eight years in Canton, and interim superintendent of schools in both Kosciusko, MS, and Canton, MS (on two occasions). 

He is a former member of the Mississippi Association of School Superintendents (MASS), where he held the positions of  President, Past President, and Secretary. 

Mr. Luckett also served for two years as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Madison County Medical Center, which is currently known as UMMC Madison Hospital in Canton, Mississippi. He has been a member of the board of directors of the Madison County Economic Development Authority for ten years, contributing significantly to attracting the Amazon Fulfillment Center, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Clarke Bottling Company to Canton, MS. He has served two terms as Chairman of the Board in this capacity. 

He has been married to Beverly Thomas-Luckett for 23 years, and they are proud parents of four children: Jeremy, Amber, Dwight Jr., and Alexandria.
